Borden, Prince Edward Island
Borden-Carleton is a town situated on the south shore of Prince Edward Island in the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island. It is located on the Northumberland Strait and was originally incorporated as a community on April 12, 1995, through the amalgamation of the town of Borden and the community of Carleton. The town has a population of 1,418 as of the 2016 census. Borden-Carleton is home to the Confederation Bridge, which links Prince Edward Island to mainland New Brunswick. The bridge opened in 1997 and is one of the world's longest bridges over ice-covered waters. Borden-Carleton also has a number of historic sites, including St. Paul's Church, which was built in 1856, and the Macphail Homestead, which was home to two generations of the Macphail family from 1864 to 1953. Visitors to Borden-Carleton can enjoy a variety of activities, including fishing, golfing, and hiking. The town is also home to several restaurants and cafes, as well as a number of shops and galleries.
