Brockville, Ontario
Brockville, formerly Elizabethtown, is a city located in Eastern Ontario, Canada. It is the seat of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, but it is politically independent from the county. The city is included in Leeds and Grenville for census purposes only. Brockville is situated on the north shore of the Saint Lawrence River, directly across from Morristown, New York. The Thousand Islands region, which consists of over 1,800 islands, is located nearby. The city has a population of approximately 21,000 people. The economy of Brockville is diverse. Manufacturing is the largest sector, followed by health care and retail trade. Brockville is an important transportation hub for Eastern Ontario. It is served by Via Rail and Greyhound buses. The city also has an airport and a marina. Brockville is home to several historical sites, including the Ferdinand-Cartier National Historic Site and the Fulford Place National Historic Site. The city also has a number of parks and recreation facilities.
