Glace Bay, Nova Scotia
Glace Bay is a community in the eastern part of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality in Nova Scotia, Canada. It forms part of the general area referred to as Industrial Cape Breton. The town is named after an early settler, William Davidson, who operated a shipyard on the site. A major employer in the town was the Dominion Coal Company, which operated coal mines in the area. However, the company closed its operations in the 1960s, leading to a period of economic decline in the town. Today, Glace Bay is undergoing a revival, with new businesses and attractions opening up in the community. One of the most popular attractions is the Glace Bay Heritage Museum, which celebrates the town's rich history and culture. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of shops and restaurants in the downtown area, or take a stroll along one of the many scenic walking trails. Whether you're looking for history or simply wanting to enjoy some fresh air, Glace Bay has something to offer everyone.
