Lunenburg, Nova Scotia
Located on the South Shore of Nova Scotia, Lunenburg is a historic port town with a rich maritime heritage. Founded in 1753, the town was one of the first British attempts to settle Protestants in Nova Scotia. The economy was traditionally based on the offshore fishery and today Lunenburg is the site of Canada's largest secondary fish-processing plant. Lunenburg is also home to a number of unique architectural features, including the iconic painted houses on Cumberland Street. Recognized as a national historic site, Lunenburg is a popular tourist destination and an important part of Nova Scotia's cultural heritage.
