Wabana, Newfoundland and Labrador
Wabana is a Canadian town located on Bell Island in Newfoundland and Labrador. The town is the largest community on the island, and is the only incorporated community. Wabana was first settled in the late 19th century, and was originally known as 'New Town'. The town's name was officially changed to 'Wabana' in 1917. The name 'Wabana' is believed to be derived from the Mi'kmaq word for 'dawn'. Wabana is home to a population of just over 4,000 people. The town is a popular tourist destination, and is known for its beautiful scenery and its historic sites. Wabana is also home to a variety of businesses and organizations, including a hospital, a library, and a number of schools.
